Terms of Service
Last updated · November 25, 2025
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Halifax Live Comedy Club website (halifaxlive.ca), your purchase of tickets, gift cards, and other products through it, and your attendance at our events. Halifax Live Comedy Club ("Halifax Live", "we", "us", "our") operates at 1575 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 2B2.
By using this website, completing a purchase, or attending one of our events, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you purchase tickets for other people, you are responsible for ensuring that everyone in your party is aware of, and complies with, these Terms.
2. Tickets and Purchases
All ticket prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD). Applicable taxes and any service or processing fees are shown before you complete your purchase. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processor; we do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
A ticket is a revocable license to attend the specific event, date, and time stated on it. Tickets may not be resold for commercial purposes, used for promotions or contests, or combined with other offers without our prior written consent. We reserve the right to cancel orders that we reasonably believe were made fraudulently, in error, or in violation of these Terms, with a refund of the amount paid.
It is your responsibility to review your order carefully — including the event, date, time, and number of tickets — before completing checkout.
3. Ticket Delivery and Order Confirmation
Tickets and order confirmations are delivered electronically to the email address you provide at checkout. You are responsible for providing an accurate, working email address. Confirmation emails are normally delivered within minutes of a completed purchase.
If you do not receive your order confirmation, you must contact us as soon as possible at info@halifaxlive.ca. Before contacting us, please check your spam, junk, and promotions folders. Halifax Live Comedy Club is not responsible for tickets or confirmations that are not delivered to your email due to stringent spam filters, email blockers, firewalls, full inboxes, typos in the email address provided, or any other deliverability issue outside of our control. It is your obligation to contact us promptly if your confirmation does not arrive so that we can verify your purchase and re-send your tickets before the event. Failure to receive a confirmation email does not entitle you to a refund if we are not given a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue before the show.
When contacting us about a missing confirmation, please include the name and email address used at checkout and, if possible, the event name and date, so we can locate your order quickly.
4. Refund and Exchange Policy
All ticket sales are final. Except as described in this section, tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, including if you change your mind, are unable to attend, arrive late, or are refused entry or removed from the venue for violating these Terms.
- Cancelled events. If we cancel an event and it is not rescheduled, you will receive a full refund of the ticket price and fees to your original payment method. Refunds are issued automatically; please allow 5–10 business days for the funds to appear on your statement.
- Rescheduled events. If an event is rescheduled, your tickets will be valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the new date, you may request a refund by emailing info@halifaxlive.ca within seven (7) days of the reschedule announcement.
- Lineup changes. Performers and lineups are subject to change without notice. A change in the advertised lineup, host, or opening acts is not grounds for a refund unless the advertised headliner of a headliner-billed show is replaced and you request a refund before the event takes place.
- Exchanges. At our discretion, we may offer to exchange tickets to another performance of equivalent value. Exchange requests must be made by email before the original event and are not guaranteed.
Refunds, where applicable, cover the ticket price and fees only. We are not responsible for any other costs you incur in connection with an event, such as travel, parking, accommodation, or food and beverage purchases.
5. Admission, Age Requirements, and ID
Halifax Live Comedy Club is a licensed venue. Unless an event is expressly advertised as all-ages, admission is restricted to guests aged 19 and over, and valid government-issued photo identification is required for entry and for the purchase of alcohol. Guests who cannot produce acceptable ID may be refused entry without a refund.
We reserve the right to refuse admission to, or remove from the venue, any person at our reasonable discretion — including for intoxication, disruptive or abusive behaviour, harassment of performers, staff, or other guests, or any violation of these Terms or applicable law. Guests removed for these reasons are not entitled to a refund.
6. Seating and Late Arrival
Unless otherwise stated for a specific event, seating is assigned at the discretion of our staff on arrival, and parties are typically seated together in order of arrival. Doors open at the time stated on your ticket. We recommend arriving when doors open to secure preferred seating.
Late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of our staff at an appropriate break in the performance, and seating preferences cannot be guaranteed. Late arrival is not grounds for a refund.
7. Code of Conduct
Comedy works best when the comedians do the talking. By attending, you agree to the following:
- No heckling, talking over performers, or otherwise disrupting the show.
- Phones must be silenced during performances.
- No harassment, threats, or discriminatory behaviour toward performers, staff, or guests.
- Follow the reasonable directions of venue staff and security at all times.
Guests who violate this code of conduct may be removed from the venue without a refund.
8. Recording and Photography
Audio or video recording of performances is strictly prohibited without our prior written consent and the consent of the performer. Guests recording a performance may be required to delete the footage and may be removed from the venue without a refund.
Events may be photographed or recorded by us or by performers for promotional, broadcast, or commercial purposes. By attending, you consent to appearing in such photography or recordings without compensation, and you grant Halifax Live Comedy Club the right to use that material in any media.
9. Show Content
Stand-up comedy frequently contains mature themes, strong language, and material that some guests may find offensive. Performers' views are their own and do not represent the views of Halifax Live Comedy Club. Finding a performance offensive is not grounds for a refund.
10. Gift Cards
Gift cards are redeemable toward tickets and eligible purchases through our website or at the venue. Gift cards have no expiry date, are not redeemable for cash except where required by law, and cannot be replaced if lost, stolen, or used without your authorization. Treat your gift card code like cash.
11. Website Accounts
If you create an account on our website, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, images, photography, video, and software — is the property of Halifax Live Comedy Club or its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our prior written consent.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Halifax Live Comedy Club, its owners, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of this website, your purchase of tickets, or your attendance at an event. Our total liability for any claim arising out of a ticket purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for the tickets in question.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the laws of Nova Scotia or Canada, including applicable consumer protection legislation.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Halifax Live Comedy Club and its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of this website.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of this website will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nova Scotia.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Changes take effect when posted to this page, and your continued use of the website or purchase of tickets after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
